2012 bible prophecy states that after the cataclysmic events, the antichrist will eventually gain domination over the world and the false messiah will be in league with him and propound a world religion. The antichrist is supposed to rule the world for a span of time and then is defeated by Jesus Christ in a battle which is referred to as Armageddon. The antichrist and the false messiah after their defeat are thrown into a lake which is made of fire, along with the devil. After a period of 1000 years the devil is again released and a final battle ensues between the devil and Jesus Christ where the devil is supposed to be permanently vanquished. After this the kingdom of God is supposed to be set up for all time.
In Matthew 24 also there are several references to the end of times and the coming of false messiahs. Here Jesus Christ is approached by his disciples who ask him about the signs which will prelude the end of the world and the second coming of the prophet. Interestingly here we find Jesus saying – “Ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, but the end is not yet”. This shows that the wars being fought right now may not be an indication of the end. He also says – “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows”. This last sentence suggests that although there is a lot of devastation in the world it may not be a total destruction and after this time only there is the coming of the antichrist and so on.
Now the main question one has to ask is whether the bible prophecy is for the year 2012. This is highly debatable and many scholars have given differing opinions on this. The bible of course never mentions a particular date and all its prophetic statements are based on timings with references to certain milestone events. So to find a definitive indication to the year 2012 is indeed difficult. Also many scholars of the bible agree that they also depend on outside sources to forecast the date of a cataclysmic event. The hype 2012 has received from many different sources is enough to make many people think that 2012 is the actual date. So it is still open to debate whether the Bible Prophecy of end of times is actually for 2012.
